Hi, I'm Nicola 👋

I'm a UX designer, and in 2022 I joined a global innovation company after getting my certification in UX design. I have experience in fintech, edtech, VR and AR. I've also done some responsive web design and enjoy using Bootstrap to create sites. My approach to design combines UX methodology with aspects of print publishing, educational psychology and front-end web development.

My background is in educational media, and I've worked on some award-winning edtech and language learning products. The fields of UX and educational publishing converge in many areas; from information navigation to visual design, and most notably, the shared goal of helping people in some way. This goal of making life easier and better for others is my biggest motivation to create excellent user experiences.

A Little about Me

I love mountains, adventures and exploring ⛷ ⛰ 🥾

Hiking, skiing and paragliding are my favourite activities to help me reset my mind and gain clarity when I’m away from my work.

I spent a long time in Taiwan 🗺 🛫 🍜

Prior to returning home to Scotland, I lived abroad for many years. I was in Taiwan for the longest but also spent time in China and Czechia. When I worked in Taiwan, I was the only native-English speaker in a big, busy office. This presented some interesting challenges and helped me learn a lot about the local culture.

I’ve worked on hundreds of published textbooks 📚 📝 🏫

The books focus on teaching young children English, science and art. I love thinking about layout, typography and colour palettes, and I look out for content or design inspiration everywhere in my daily life.
